UPDATE: This program has been changed from a downloadable executable file, to one which you run over the internet, on AAVID's machine. It appears to be the same excellent program described below, but you run it on their machine instead of yours.

Aavid's Coolcat program allows the engineer to design a heat sink to fit the application. The program covers everything under the sun, from ordinary convection cooled heat sinks to forced air cooling, to water cooling, etc.

The program assumes that you are going to use one of Aavid's heat sink products, but if you want to get an idea how much cooling you will get from another heat sink, or how much cooling air will be needed to maintain a certain temperature rise, you can always just pick an Aavid heat sink which is about the same size and shape as the one you plan to use, and run the analysis with that.

This program is VERY WELL DONE. Aavid had it done professionally by a company in New Jersey. It is clear and user-friendly, It does just about everything you can think of, and the graphics are beautiful.
