The purpose of a radial stub is to provide a broadly resonant short circuit in a microstrip circuit. The radial stub is widely used as a bypass capacitor in the bias circuit of microstrip amplifiers. This program calculates the dimensions of a radial stub from the equations given by H.A. Atwater in Microwave Journal, November 1985, pp 149 - 156. Just enter the values at the prompt. The length calculated is from the input of the stub to the end of the radius. Take care to enter the correct width at the stub input since the width at the input (narrow end) has a strong effect on the stub resonant frequency.
